As usual I found myself still lacking a few of the ingredients for Sunday brunch. Namely, I was in need of a perfectly ripe mango, and all the grocery stores near me were in possession solely of the half-ripe variety.
I could’ve tried the ripen-it-in-a-brown-bag trick, but since the mango was the salad’s star ingredient, I didn’t want to leave it to chance.
I headed to the one place I knew I could count on for perfectly ripe mangos (or most any variety other food need, for that matter) – The Milwaukee Public Market.
Lucky for me, The Milwaukee Public Market is home to El Rey Productos – Fresh Produce & Mexican Specialties – which had nothing less than a small section filled with bright yellow mangos.
Yes! I bought several for good measure and also snagged a bright bouquet for the table at the Blumen’ Markt. Gotta love the convenience of having so many great vendors under one roof.
